Jacob started with the Turner organization in February 2022. He currently serves as Fisheries Biologist and the Aquatics Program Coordinator for TEI. He received his B.S. in Biology from Western Michigan University in 2012 and his M.S. in Fish and Wildlife Management from Montana State University in 2018, studying the spawning behavior of invasive Lake Trout in Yellowstone Lake. Prior to joining TEI he worked for the National Park Service, Wyoming Game and Fish, and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
As Aquatics Program Coordinator he oversees a variety of aquatic natural resources projects from native trout population monitoring to aquatic habitat restoration. Current species conservation actives include Rio Grande Sucker and Rio Grande Chub reintroductions, Chiricahua leopard frog restoration, and Westslope Cutthroat Trout population assessments. Jacob has authored and co-authored several peer reviewed articles on invasive species management and native fish restoration.
Always advocating for the not-so-charismatic fishes, Jacob is fascinated by the resilience and amazing capabilities of Americas native non-game species. He has long been motived by the likes of Celia Hunter, Mollie Beattie, and E.O. Wilson.
